Influencer Mentor Review: Gary Vee & Dave Asprey
This is the first of a series of similar reviews to come. Mentorship has been a critical factor to my success and confidence. I feel obligated to pass it on and give others the resources that have helped me. To anyone who has read along with all my posts (first off, thank you) this post promises to be much more concise.
I have played baseball from ages 5-27, and for the first time in 22 years, the word “mentor” has a completely different meaning. I have taken an interest in the business and financial world and have found new avenues of self-education.
My newest tool (embarrassing to admit) is the podcast. I never realized how often I listen to music while driving. I have committed to listening to an educational podcast within the finance, business, personal growth, health and nutrition world, daily; and have listened to over 250 hours of podcast episodes over the past six months.
Without a doubt, well over half of the time I am listening to one of two shows and ironically enough, I discovered one from the other.
Gary Vaynerchuk’s (aka Gary Vee) TheGaryVee Audio Experience ranks 96 on the iTunesCharts.net and Dave Asprey‘s BulletProof Radio once ranked as high as 22 on the Canadian chart (he resides in Vancouver), and 24 on the U.S. chart.
On a day in mid-August, I was taking a road trip from Dallas to Baton Rouge, and had my podcast playlist ready to roll. One of the names on the Bulletproof Radio guest list was “Gary Vaynerchuk” and it peaked my interest because I had heard the name. Well, after about six minutes (and not just because he is from New Jersey and also curses a lot) I was sold. I finished his interview with Bulletproof, and subscribed to The GaryVee Audio Experience before listening to one of his own shows. To this day, I don’t feel right unless I get my daily dose of Gary Vee, and I think I consume Gary’s content more than Bulletproof- sorry Dave, love you.
I’m drinking the kool-aid, fuck it. (insert shoulder-shrug emoji here)
If you haven’t had a chance to check any of either one of these incredible leaders’ content, you are truly doing yourself an injustice. I will expand a little on what each specializes in, as well as what they have done for me, personally. But, if you are interested in personal growth, education, and bettering others and the world around you- give them a listen and review their shit!
From Dave’s bio at BulletProof.com
Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof and author of New York Times bestseller The Bulletproof Diet, is a Silicon Valley investor and technology entrepreneur who spent two decades and over $1 Million to hack his own biology.
Dave is the creator of the widely popular Bulletproof Coffee, host of the #1 health podcast, Bulletproof Radio, and author of the New York Times bestselling books, The Bulletproof Diet and Head Strong. Through his work Dave provides information, techniques, and keys to taking control of and improving your biochemistry, your body and your mind so they work in unison, helping you execute at levels far beyond what you’d expect, without burning out, getting sick, or allowing stress to control your decisions.
I was introduced to Dave’s work over two years ago, and at first, some of the research and findings were so against what I was taught as an athlete for so long, I was very resistant. As I have wrote about earlier in my ‘biohacking’ post, after learning more, often through experience, I was wrong- and his teachings have changed my life.
His podcast, books, and network has introduced me to some of the best things and people in my life so far, and helped spark a new side of me in a great way. Dave always asks his listeners and fans to express gratitude by reviewing and telling others about his work.
Done and done. Thank you.

Books: This post is written at a perfect time, as Dave just released his most recent book, Game Changers which hit shelves yesterday. Dave has compiled some of the most important information he has learned from some of the brightest minds he has interviewed. He relays this for us to explain “what leaders, innovators, and mavericks do to win at life.” Some of his others include the aforementioned BulletProof Diet, as well as Head Strong.
Gary Vee is an American-Belarusian entrepreneur, historically successful investor, chairman, podcast host, NY Times Best Selling author, and grew up in New Jersey.
Gary and I both grew up in New Jersey, and speak very similarly. It’s why I was able to be so buy in so quickly. Being in the south now, some of my southern friends really took some time to warm up to Gary’s brash style of high energy, dirty mouth, and hand movements. All which I am fluent in.
Gary does a great job spreading positivity and being real as hell. Not only when he speaks himself, but with clients and fans. He works with entrepreneurs, business execs, athletes, entertainers, social entrepreneurs, and more.
He brings unique perspective and insight to a modern world and is not afraid to say what he thinks or tell you how often he has been right.
Gary has blown up the past couple months especially, and deservingly so. He always says, “Watch what I do, not what I say.” People are watching and listening, and I hope you all do too. I hope you take a play from Tony Robbins, and take massive action. I know he has helped me to do so. His GaryVee Audio Experience is my most used tool to consume his content, and find his interaction on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook are incredibly effective as well. Good luck and let me know what you think.
